Where to Find Help

About the Hotline

Our Email Hotline began in June 2002, about one year after WomensLaw.org was originally launched, and provides a way for you to ask a question about domestic violence, sexual assault, restraining orders, family law, or any other topic. We will listen to your question and will try to provide you with the information you need as well as links and contact information for organizations in your area that can help.

We do not provide legal representation or referrals for specific lawyers.

You can also use this Email Hotline if you have a question, comment, correction or suggestion about our website.

The first six months of the Hotline, we answered approximately 85 emails per month. Now, almost six years later, the amount of emails we answer per month has increased to 500. We answer emails in Spanish and English.

The Hotline emails are answered by WomensLaw.org staff and a group of devoted, trained law student volunteers and interns. As email traffic continues to grow, we hope to expand our circle of volunteers to meet the increasing need among our users for legal information.

Please note: We cannot provide legal advice, only legal information and no attorney-client relationship is formed by using this hotline.
